Prices vary depending on location, room size and furnishings. In the canton of Zug, rents for furnished shared rooms are usually between CHF 1'100.– and CHF 1'500.– per month. Rooms directly in the town of Zug or in Baar are somewhat more expensive, while rooms in the surrounding municipalities are a little cheaper.

For shared rooms, the following utilities are included in the rent:

So you pay one flat monthly amount – with no hidden extra costs.

The deposit amounts to one month's rent. It must be paid in full before the keys are handed over. Unfortunately, payment in instalments is not possible.

Cash payment is possible. Alternatively, you can transfer the deposit to our account. After you move out the deposit is refunded, provided no damage has occurred – please get in touch with us briefly and give us your IBAN (details under “Notice period”).

Yes, the rent is paid monthly in advance. You transfer the amount at the beginning of each month. You will find the exact payment date in your rental agreement.

You share the kitchen and bathroom and possibly a common hallway or entrance area. Your room is exclusively yours – you have your own key and complete privacy.

In the kitchen you have labelled storage space and a numbered section in the fridge, so that everyone has their own place. There are numbered storage spaces in the bathroom as well.

This can vary – often it is working professionals, students or people who are in the canton of Zug temporarily for work. We have a conversation with every person before they move in, in order to ensure a pleasant living atmosphere.

Consideration for others matters to us: quiet hours apply, and shared spaces are left the way you would want to find them yourself. This is deliberately not a party flat-share concept – ideal for people who value peace and privacy.

That depends on the particular property. As a rule, 2 to 5 people live in a flat-share. Larger houses may also have more rooms. You can see the exact number of rooms and the size of the flat-share in each listing.

Yes, the usual rules of a shared flat apply:

• Leave the common areas clean after use
• Respect quiet hours (especially at night and at the weekend)
• Label your own food and store it in the designated areas
• Dispose of waste in accordance with the municipality's regulations

Yes, short visits are of course welcome. Overnight guests are generally possible as well, but should remain the exception and must not disturb the other residents. Please check your rental agreement – you will find any rules regarding guests there.

Yes – the room is your home for as long as you live with us. You are free to arrange it to your own taste: hang pictures and posters, bring plants, rugs, lamps, curtains or your own furniture.

We only ask that you leave no permanent marks: no drill holes without checking with us first, and no repainting of the walls. When you move out you simply take your things with you – the furniture we provide stays in the room.

All you need is a photo or a scan of your valid ID – that is, a Swiss identity card, a passport or a residence permit.

We do not require a debt collection register extract, proof of salary or confirmation from your employer. This makes the process fast and straightforward – especially for newcomers to Switzerland.

That is possible, provided a room is immediately available, the rental agreement has been signed and the payment has been received. Many rooms are equipped with a key safe – so you can move in flexibly, even outside normal office hours.

Yes. With your signed rental agreement you can register at the residents' registration office of the relevant municipality in the canton of Zug and have the shared room entered as your official place of residence.

No. We do not require a debt collection register extract. This is particularly helpful for people who are new to Switzerland and do not yet have a long credit history.

The rooms are fully furnished. As a rule they include:

• Bed with mattress, duvet and pillow
• Wardrobe or clothes rack
• Desk and chair
• Shelf or chest of drawers

You can see the exact furnishings in the photos of each listing. Personal items such as towels, kitchenware or bed linen (apart from the duvet and pillow) are things you bring yourself.

Yes. The room is thoroughly cleaned before every move-in. You receive fresh bed linen as well as clean mattress covers and mattress protectors. All textiles are either new or industrially cleaned. Cleanliness is very important to us.

No, you bring pans, plates, cutlery and other kitchen utensils yourself. However, you can ask your flatmates whether you would like to share certain things – in practice this often works very well.

The common areas (kitchen, bathroom, hallway) are cleaned professionally on a regular basis. This is included in the rent. Naturally, all residents are nevertheless expected to leave the rooms tidy after use.

Yes, fast internet is included in the rent. You will receive the Wi-Fi access details when the keys are handed over.

The minimum rental period is 1 month. There is no upper limit – some tenants stay with us for just a few weeks, others for several years.

Depending on the rental agreement, a notice period of 14 or 30 days applies. You can give notice effective either mid-month or at the end of the month. The exact deadlines are stated in your rental agreement – the terms of the contract always apply.

Yes. Giving notice between 1 December and 15 January is not possible. In that case the end of the tenancy is automatically postponed to 15 January. So plan your move-out early enough if you want to leave around the turn of the year.

You can simply send your notice by email to info@zimmer-in-zug.ch. Alternatively, registered post is possible. We confirm the notice in writing as soon as we have received it.

After you have moved out and returned the keys, the room is inspected.

The deposit is not transferred back automatically: please send us a short email to info@zimmer-in-zug.ch after moving out and include your IBAN. Provided no damage was found during the inspection, we then transfer the amount back within a few days. Any damage is deducted beforehand.

In Switzerland – and in the canton of Zug – strict waste disposal rules apply. Depending on the municipality, you have to buy special chargeable rubbish bags or waste stickers. You can usually get these from local retailers (e.g. Migros, Coop, Landi).

Please note: fines for improper waste disposal can be very high in Switzerland – easily over CHF 1'000.–. Ask your flatmates how disposal is handled specifically in your household.

Glass, PET, cardboard and other recyclable materials can be disposed of free of charge at the designated collection points.

The canton of Zug has a well-developed recycling system. At public collection points you can hand in the following materials free of charge:

• Glass (separated by colour)
• PET bottles
• Aluminium and tinplate
• Cardboard and paper
• Waste oil and batteries

The canton of Zug is well connected. The town of Zug offers all the important shopping options (Migros, Coop, Aldi, Lidl and others), restaurants, pharmacies and doctors. Public transport is very reliable – by train you reach Zurich in about 25 minutes and Lucerne in about 20 minutes.

Yes. In Switzerland, health insurance (Krankenversicherung) is mandatory for everyone resident in Switzerland. You must sign up with a health insurer within 3 months of registering your residence. Providers include Helsana, Swica, CSS, Sanitas and others.
